Developer guide

Detailed coding conventions are maintained in the agents repository. They apply to both human-written and AI-assisted contributions.

Larger code changes should only be made by someone with enough programming experience to understand the tradeoffs and maintenance impact.

Before submitting code, run the relevant test suite and fix any failures. The Quollix maintainer also runs the test suite before release when preparing release artifacts.

AI-assisted contributions

AI-assisted contributions are welcome, but a coding agent is a tool, not an autonomous software engineer. The contributor remains responsible for understanding, simplifying, and testing the submitted code. Unreviewed generated code, overly complex output, or “vibe coding” is strictly rejected. The final contribution must be intentional and consistent with the surrounding codebase.
